Karnataka State Law University eligibility criteria for 3 years LLB program:

An applicant who has graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognized as a deemed University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for 3 year degree course in Law.

Qualifying exam: The candidate needs to have passed graduation exam in any discipline.

Minimum marks in qualifying exam: General category candidates need to score minimum 45% marks (44.5% and above will be treated as 45%). OBC candidates need 42% (41.5% and above will be treated as 42%) and ST/SC applicants need 40% marks (39.5% and above will be treated as 40%).
DURATION: 3 YEARS
  1. 3 year LL.B. degree course shall be of three years duration spread over six semesters.
  2. Each Academic shall be divided into two semesters.
  3. Each semester shall consist of 18 weeks.
  4. Affiliated to Karnataka State Law University & Recognized by Bar Council of India.

3 Year LL.B. Course

Course of Study
The teaching and instructions shall be in accordance with the Bar Council of India Rules. The candidates admitted to the course shall pursue the courses of study.

Duration of the Course
The duration of the course leading to the Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) shall be of three academic Year. Each academic year comprises of 2 semesters.
Each Semester shall consist of 18 Weeks. The papers and the syllabus are given after admission.

The subjects of study prescribed for the course shall be as under:

  • Contract–I
  • Law of Torts
  • Family Law–I: Hindu Law
  • Criminal Law–I: Indian Penal Code
  • English (For those who write examination in Kannada)

II Semester

  • Constitutional Law–II
  • Contract–II
  • Labour Law–I
  • Property Law
  • Family Law–II: Mohemmadan Law & Indian Succession Act
  • Kannada / Kannada Kali ( For non- Kannadiga students)

III Semester

  • Jurisprudence
  • Labour Law-II
  • Law of Taxation
  • Criminal Law-II: Cr. P.C., JJ Act & Probation of Offenders Act
  • Administrative Law

IV Semester

  • Public International Law
